Description: Up for auction is this vintage cast bronze religious icon plaque. The plaque shows a detailed image of 'Madonna of Smolensk'. The icon is Russian Orthodox in design and shows an image of Madonna and Child facing forward. The faces on both show signs of a grey solder muting their images. I'm pretty sure that if the plaque was heated the solder would run off and the images would be back to normal. The backside has an allover grey solder surface with a hand written #1. It measures approx. 3-5/8" x 4-1/2" x just over 1/8" thick. This is one of a large collection that I purchased a few months ago. No makers mark or name on this icon but it was most likely manufactured by 'Greenbrier' of Rhode Island, USA. It comes in good condition with no damage or repairs.
