Description: For your consideration is this vintage Carson Pirie Scott & Co. Homer Laughlin 5.5” restaurant ware plate.Very nice vintage pre-owned condition. Utensil marks.Design around rim of plate ~ black squares divided into groups of three. Look closely and in four of the groupings you will see “Carson Pirie Scott & Co” in the iconic Carson’s script.This was the older Carson Pirie Scott & Co trademark, around the early 1960s.Backstamp reads “HOMER LAUGHLIN Best China U.S.A.” Carson Pirie Scott & Co. was an American department store founded in 1854. The first store opened in LaSalle, Illinois under the ownership of Samuel Carson and John Thomas Pirie. John Edwin Scott operated a dry goods store in Ottawa, Illinois. He moved to Chicago and became the first partner with Carson and Pirie in the ownership of a dry good store, which would evolve into the better known Carson Pirie Scott & Co. with more than 50 locations primarily throughout the Midwest. The flagship store was located on State Street in Downtown Chicago for 114 years, until the Carson’s chain closed in 2018. Please review photos carefully.Thanks for looking!
