Description: Vintage Capped Beer Stein Auf der Alm, Albert Jacob Thewalt Mold 165, designed by Wilhelm Kamp. This Vintage Stein depicts a man trying to impress two women with a dance as four others watch. The phrase "Auf der Alm" under the main panel translates to "On the Alps." Intricate scroll work surrounds the three main images in exquisite detail. The images are hand painted. It also has a well built ornamented conical lid. The number 165 printed under the loop of the handle indicates the stein was cast using mold 165 which was designed by Wilhelm Kamp in 1894. This stein was manufactured in West Germany by Thewalt, a prominent German stoneware manufacturer, at some point in the 1950s or 1960s. This stein is in good vintage condition.
