Description: German ceramic majolica, estimated date 1930s pre-World War II, marked “Made in Germany.” Interesting collector’s piece, could be a trinket, cigarette or soap box. Nice basketweave overall pattern, celdaon green/muted turquoise color, raised fruit design (peaches and grapes) on top lid. Incised number 2885 on base. Lavender bow glued to underside of top lid. Measures 5.25 x 3.25 x 2 inches. Inside box width is 70 mm, standard size for traditional vintage cigarettes. No tobacco odor. Overall very good condition, no cracks or crazing. Very clean, no noticeable scratches. Three very small chips along edge of base piece, small brown spot on edge of lid. Appears to have had very little use. Provenance unknown.
