Description: Gertrude Chandler Warner taught 5th grade elementary school children. Her 1st book "The Boxcar Children" led to a series of 18 books she wrote herself thru the late 1960's. After her death the series continued with ghost writers. I have collected the books in hardcover that she wrote. She wrote these books for children to show responsibility, hard work, resourcefulness and a little bit of mystery. This 1st in the series "The Boxcar Children" was originally published in 1942. This printed 1950 edition is highly sought after as the 1942 and 1950 editions are difficult to find. In Very good collectible condition, clean with tight binding. This book is for the Boxcar Children collector in all of us. I have owned this book since 1957. From a smoke free home.
