Description: Here is a 1964 Huffy bicycle, very rare and one of a Kind, museum piece.. This appears to either be a candy dish or ashtray that was made exclusively in very limited numbers... I cannot find any information about this piece whatsoever but this looks like to me it was made to celebrate either the 5 millionth bicycle that Huffy produced or either the 5 millionth bicycle that Huffy sold and is dated 1964.. I have owned it for over 25 years and bought it from a reputable seller.. From what I gathe,r this must have been a promotional item that was just meant for certain company execs and, or Huffy bicycle dealers that were at the very top in sales... It is in absolutely beautiful condition and certainly believe this is a one of a kind piece because I have never seen another one like it.. I'm 59 years old and have been to literally a countless number of flea markets, antique malls, estate sales, and antique shops... This absolutely belongs in a display case of a serious collector or anyone that loves early, original Americana advertising and it's just absolutely stunning.. The ashtray has gold painted boarder and gold painted bicycle on heavy smoke glass.. The sad thing is that Huffy like many American companies cheapened its brand in the 1990s and begin to have most of its manufacturing done overseas.. Huffy however was a huge bicycle manufacturer during the Heyday of the greatest generation and was the third largest producer of bicycles in America at one time.. there's absolutely no doubt in my mind whatsoever if you bought a huffy bicycle in the 1940s, 50s or 60s, you got a very quality American-made product.. Making even bicycles for Monarch brand bicycles and having had a large contract with the military at one time happy was also the sponsor of one of the pioneers in BMX racing during its infant days, Stu Thompson in the 1980s..
