Description: This is a small (just ¾" x ½") pin featuring the coat of arms of Berlin. The enamel plaque featuring the black bear on a white shield, is set into a decorative metal surrounding. On the back is a functioning sprung pin so that it can be worn as a brooch or lapel pin or even a hat pin. This version of the coat of arms was, I believe, introduced in 1954 (although in other representations I've seen the bear has a smooth outline, whereas this is one shaggy bear!) so the pin must be from the 50s, or the 60s when it came into my family's possession. See the pictures of the pin next to a standard thumb tack to see the scale. It is in excellent condition.
