Description: This vintage Ark-Les accessory light switch probably dates from the 1930s - 1940s and is in really nice shape. It includes an original KillArk SFE 20 fuse and the original under dash mounting bracket, which is also exceptionally clean and corrosion free. An original Ark-Les knurled mounting screw for the lip bracket is also included in this sale but it came from a different switch and is a little dirty and could use some cleanup. The threads and knurling are undamaged and the screw is perfectly functional as is. The original brass screws for the electrical connections are all present and in good shape but are a little tarnished. The solder on the ends of the fuse is a little dull and darkened from age but the fuse checks good with an ohmmeter. The knob that's on this switch currently is labeled "UNITY LIGHTS." The switch itself is a single pole, 3 position (OFF, ON1, ON BOTH) type suitable for switching non-inductive loads such as lights. Connections on rear of switch is labled "BATT," "ROAD," and "TAIL." The center position detent is a little vague but is there (I doubt that would be an issue for most folks since it's unlikely you'd be using headlights or driving lights without having your tail lights on anyway). I tested this switch with an ohmmeter and the contact resistance is less than my meter can measure. Resistance of my meter leads is 0.4 ohms and resistance of the switch contacts through those same leads is also 0.4 ohms, so it's got to be pretty low (which is what you want). I don't know the history of this switch but I suspect it is used since I found it without any packaging on the shelf in the basement of my folks house where I think it had probably been sitting undisturbed for well over 60 years. It may have been installed in a 1948 Chrysler that my dad had befor I came along or it may have come from somewhere else, I'm not sure. Anyway, used or not, this switch looks really nice and, from the tests I was able to perform, appears to be in good working order. I took lots of photos from multiple angles of both the entire assembly and the individual components so you can see exactly what you'll be getting if you decide to purchase this item. 23 photos in all - please check them out! I hope someone can make good use of this in restoring their old hot rod or vintage machine. Unless you have the good fortune of finding one of these that's still new and in the box, I doubt you'll find another quite as nice as this one. I typically ship within one day of payment. If payment is received before 10:00 AM Pacific time, your item will usually ship that same day. If you have any questions, please ask. I will do my best to answer as quickly as possible. Thank you.
