Description: This vintage American Legion School Award For God And Country is a unique and rare find for collectors. The medal, made by Medallic Art Co in the United States in 1925, is composed of bronze and features a circulated design. The award comes with a ribbon and is perfect for those interested in exonumia, medals, and coins and paper money. Call me old fashioned but wouldn't it be nice if more "School Awards" stood for something like this American Legion School Award does! The front pictures the Flag being raised (by a women, probably a Teacher or Principal) and the legend, "God and Country". I think the back is even more interesting; it shows a spread winged Eagle, the American Legion Crest, and the words "American Legion School Award" followed by "Courage" "Character" "Service" "Companionship" and finally "Scholarship". With all that going on, it fails to mention "participation". That must be an oversight! Thanks and enjoy, Ken.
