Description: This is a wonderful, traditional, and classic 1920's pack basket from right here in The Adirondack Mountains. It is made the old time traditional way with pounded ash splint slats and wrapped at the top with ash as well. The splints are hand cut uniformly and evenly. The basket is made by someone, likely either an Adirondack guide or a Native American Mohawk Indian, that obviously had made more previously, as it has held its strength and shape perfectly for some 100 years, and with no damage. The classic shape allows the basket to rest comfortably against the back. The canvas straps are also excellent. It measures 17" tall and 15" X 11" across the top. If you hunt, trap, camp, fish,or hike, or if you just want one for the folk art value or for decor, this is a great opportunity to own one at a reasonable price. Imagine this decorating your fireplace hearth with balsam boughs in it at Christmas. Local pickup is an option. UPS, in this case, is considerably less than USPS. The actual box size will be 20 x 16 x 16 to accommodate packing materials.
