They all carried names, and this is "Lucky Pierre," a French sailor, shown from the back, with striped nautical shirt, bell bottoms, and Breton cap with pom-pom. Pierre and the anchor are fabric appliques, and the trim around them plus the balance of the decorations are hand painted. Dress is a rayon fabric with a linen-look weave.
