Description: This is a superb vintage 1950's era deerskin leather jacket made by W. B. Place & Co., in approximately a men's size 46, or 2XL. The jacket has an incredibly unique design, with both a waist-level belt, and a full front zip, and an iconic spread collar, incredibly emblematic of the 1950's-1960's era. The construction of the jacket is extremely well done, with unique panel designs and pleats that conform to the body for a better fit. The leather is supple undyed deerskin from the Wisconsin-based W. B. Place & Company, one of the most storied tanneries of Wisconsin, which started operating in the mid-1860's.The belt buckle components are unique, threading into each other in the style of a much older buckle, and is made of solid brass, with the anchor symbol stamped on each half of the buckle. The zipper is a 50's-era Talon brand zipper. As for sizing, the jacket has no attached size label, but should fit as approximately a men's size 2XL. Check the below measurements before purchasing. Note: the attached newspaper clipping is from the Wisconsin State Journal, from November of 1949.
