Description: A great vintage piece of Winston Salem, North Carolina history in the form of an actual room key and key fob from the now torn down historic Robert E. Lee hotel! Built in the 1910s and torn down in the early 1970s. This key and fob are for room number 420 and dates to about the 1940s, maybe earlier. The key comes from a large collection of keys, fobs, door knobs and lock mechanisms that were salvaged by a builder before the hotel was torn down and given to a family member of mine years ago directly from the salvager. Please see the rest of this historic hardware currently available for sale in our eBay store! This is the oldest key fob in the collection with the rest probably dating from the 1950s and 60s. The keys are probably all from the 40s or 50s but could be older. The knobs are very old; many with spiderweb patterns, and are the original knobs from 1910s/20s. We have the rest of the hardware available in one other listing. This listing is for this one key and fob pictured only. In Good condition with gentle wear and patina. Fob measures 1 3/4” x 1 3/4”. Key measures 2 1/8” long. Please enjoy the photos for further item details and if you have any questions feel free to ask. This item ships Worldwide. Fast payment ensures prompt shipping.
