Description: ***********The automatic movement loses about 4 minutes by the end of its approximate 24 hour power reserve period. Given this, that it takes around 18 full winds of the crown to fire up the movement, the relatively short power reserve period and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is required.***********This vintage 1970's Scubapro 500, which came from the estate of its original owner, has matte black "T SWISS MADE T" signed dial that is in near pristine condition. Majority of the imperfections seen are on the crystal, not the dial. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and emits a quick burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully to a buttermilk hue. The fat font black bezel, which shows wear and ratchets counterclockwise, presents nicely with the golden buttermilk inverted triangle lume complementing the patina on the dial and hands beautifully. The massive all stainless steel case shows honest wear with insignificant signs of oxidation. There is a considerable ding on the underbelly of the bottom left lug which can be most clearly seen in picture 15. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "INCABLOC AUTOMATIC SWISS MADE 67155 SUPER-WATERRESISTANT STAINLESS STEEL" with "SCUBAPRO WORLDWIDE" stamped in the center and "4053" stamped along the inner edge. The crystal shows scratching. In my humble opinion the crystal imperfections aren't nearly as pronounced in person. While I normally show pictures of the movements of watches I put up for sale the case back on this watch is torqued too tight for me to remove. Based on several other examples I've had the movement is likely a 17 jewels unadjusted Swiss "SCUBAPRO" stamped ETA 2784 automatic movement with quickset date function. It runs, albeit slow, and the date wheel rolls over at 12 am. The quickset date function works flawlessly by unscrewing the screwdown crown, pulling it out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the crown 39 full revolutions the movement fired up after around 18 full winds and lost about 4 minutes by the end of its approximate 24 hour power reserve period. The crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should and winds smoothly. Given that the movement loses time, takes a decent amount of winds of the crown to fire up, the relatively short power reserve period and considering its unknown service history a complete overhaul is required. This watch measures approximately 41 mm excluding the crown, approximately 44 mm including the crown and approximately 20 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 13.5 mm. The crystal adds no additional thickness. A complete overhaul is required. As such there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time. Any servicing costs going forward are your responsibility. Please thoroughly read this entire listing and kindly ask any and all questions you may have prior to buying as this sale is final and no refunds of any kind will be given. And please study the 17 high magnification pictures carefully as they are part of the description and serve as an accurate representation of the condition of this watch. Expedited and insured shipping along with signature confirmation will be provided.
