Description: Vintage 1960's MCM Stoneware Lion Bank David Gil Bennington Pottery Signed Click images to enlarge Description Vintage 1960's Mid Century Modern stoneware bank designed by artist David Gil for Bennington Pottery of Vermont, USA. The bank is in the shape of a male lion with an awesome mane and a wonderful face. Really cute! He is hand painted in speckled glossy glaze in shades of brown, measures about 12" long, 5.5" high, 5" wide across his mane, weighs a hefty two pounds, has a slot in has back for inserting coins, and an opening on the bottom for removing money. The can of Coke is for a sizing reference. He is signed as well but I cannot make anything out other than what looks like maybe "1656" plus other smaller letters-the glaze is just too thick. He is in excellent condition with just one small chip to the backside of one of the lower peaks of his mane. You can see it in two of my closeup photos. He is also missing his cork. A wonderful addition to your collection of MCM pottery! Please email with any questions or concerns before bidding. Thanks so much for your interest! Pictures sell!
