Description: Early vintage 1960s unsigned Kenneth Jay Lane faux pearl, flawed ruby, and emerald Gripoix-style necklace accented by rhinestone rondelles between the glass beads, as well as a gilt metal and rhinestone barrel-shaped pin or hook clasp. Another of this same necklace is currently listed as by Maison Gripoix - but it is Kenneth Jay Lane. I have seen a number of early Kenneth Jay Lane necklaces misattributed to Gripoix and Chanel, or sometimes Gripoix for Chanel, recently. These early pieces were often done in the style of French couture jewelry - in this case, French couture interpretations of Mughal jewelry - so the style is very similar, but not quite the same. Really fabulous piece. About 44.5” inches long or so, it’s can be worn doubled or long.
