Description: Vintage 1950's Garton Red Super Sonda Pedal Scooter Good Chain, Wheels & Paint. Early 1960's Sonda Scrambler "Vespa style" chain driven pedal scooter/car, made by the Garton Toy Company. The Garton Toy Co. was founded in 1879 and manufactured toys for 95 years. They manufactured coaster wagons, sleds, tricycles, scooters and pedal cars. At one time, Garton was the largest wheel goods toy factory in the world. The introduction of plastics to the toy industry and increased government regulation led to Garton's demise and the company was sold in 1973. Measurements: overall length is 35", the height is 28" to the top of the handlebars, 24 1/2" high to the top of the front panel and 20" high to the top of the metal saddle. The handlebars are 18 1/4" wide. The front panel is 9 1/4" wide. The scooter is 8" wide at the rear fenders.
