Vintage 1950-60s L.L. Bean Wool Winter Cover-Over Checkered pants Freeport Me.

Description: Vintage 1950-60s L.L. Bean 100% Wool winter cover- up/over (lots of extra room for layers). Gray wool checkered pattern pants. Freeport Me. These have buttons along there waist line for suspender attachment or attaching to a top layer. Gray with red and green horizontal and vertical lines create a checked/squared pattern. They appear to have had a repair/alteration on the inseam of the right leg. I believe material has been carefully removed from the crotch and added to the inseam. I have shown it in the pictures. It spans about 15" from the ankle up. It opens up the bottom opening by approximately 1-3" depending on where you measure. I do not believe it to be a recent alteration. It looks like it was meant to allow for the fitting of something. The white liner material has yellowed/browned with age. Other than these addressed flaws this garment is not in bad condition. No holes, moth holes, tears, or outer staining. Please see all pictures provided. Due to rarity and care taken I still believe this garment to have intrinsic value.
