Description: Up for bid is an original vintage pre-owned 1940's Westerns #G1321 Lou Boudreau Baseball Glove LHT. Found at an estate sale of a baseball collector of memorabilia. This is 1940's Westerns #G1321 Lou Boudreau Baseball Glove, Split 5-Finger Mitt. Nicknamed "Old shufflefoot," "Handsome Lou," and "The Good Kid." The glove is in overall good condition with a worn liner and edge binding. No cuts, holes, or tears I could see. Will defer any cleaning and conditioning to the buyer’s discretion or an easy and satisfying restoration project. The glove is playable as-is (certainly for a casual game of catch). It measures 9.25 inches tall by 9.5 inches wide. All markings are clearly visible. Visible markings include: “Lou Boudreau" signature on palm-side and “Westerns” (logo) " on the palm below it and the model number “G1321”. On the back strap is a previous owner name crossed out. Lou Boudreau played and managed in the Major League from 1938 to 1960. He played for 15 seasons, primarily as a shortstop on the Cleveland Indians, and managed four teams for 15 seasons including 10 seasons as a player-manager. In 1948, Boudreau won the American League Most Valuable Player Award and managed the Cleveland Indians to the World Series title. He won the 1944 American League batting title (.327), and led the league in doubles in 1941, 1944, and 1947. He led AL shortstops in fielding eight times. Boudreau still holds the MLB record for hitting the most consecutive doubles in a game (four), set on July 14, 1946. In 1970, Boudreau was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame as a player.
