Description: My mother got this doll in post WWII (1945) Holland while working with refugees immediately after the war. She is a great example from the 1940’s in her traditional lace cap, flannel type dress and apron with windmill and flower scenes on cotton. The name Lassie on her apron must have significance, but I don’t know what it is. Under her garb she wears white cotton panties. On her feet she has marvelous wooden shoes. These enable her to actually stand very securely without support. The black part of the apron has two small holes, which could be easily mended. And her face is missing a bit of the original paint, however the blue eyes, arched brows, rosy cheeks and red button lips are still very visible. The doll is 10.5 inches tall and is jointed, in that her arms and legs move easily, not loosely. The head moves a bit, but is kept in position by the attached lace bonnet. This doll needs to find an appreciative home. If you have a collector in your life or an old friend who likes Dutch things, please direct them our way.
