Description: STUNNING! A Miss Jane Original 1940s cocktail dress. No sizing. The construction is very interesting. The shoulder and bust area are of the sheerest organza lined to cover the bust area (photo #5), the waist is black satin and the skirt is a fully lined crepe. There is an attached overlay, sort of an oversized collar/capelet, constructed from a double layer of the same sheer organza as the shoulder/bust area. The capelet has boning in the front and a hook and eye closure to maintain coverage of the sheer under-dress. It is so beautiful. Sadly, the overlay collar/capelet is in very fragile condition. It has some pin holes, slight fraying at the shoulder area and pleats. If this part was restored, the dress would be magnificent.
