In 1929 four Townswomen's Guilds were formed at the instigation of Margery Corbett Ashby and Eva Hubback as an experiment in the study of citizenship. The first four guilds formed were: Haywards Heath; Burnt Oak; Moulsecoomb and Romsey. In 1933 they changed the name to The National Union of Townswomen's Guild (NUTG). The badge reads on the front N.U.T.G. T.G On the reverse of the badge it reads 'REG. NO. 750257 THOMAS FATTORINI LTD. REGENT ST. BIRMINGHAM'.
