Description: Offering a vintage 1930's Style "Ring/Spring" Dynamic Microphone. Check those old early 20th Century newsreels and you'll see this style of mic used extensively. Now, this custom-retrofitted microphone brings back those ole' days, yet works as any modern microphone would. Housed within the massive chromed casing is a standard dynamic capsule that will operate with any amplifier, mixer, or computer audio interface. As for the sound, it still has a "semi-vintage" quality, but delivers good clarity that won't negatively affect the speech. (Check the audio sample on the listing video.) It also functions quite nicely as a bidirectional mic, if you wanted to place a speaker or singer(s) front and back! The mic is hardwired to a short shielded cable with male XLR plug. (We can swap the XLR for a 1/4" male phono plug if you prefer.) The massive "bullet style" casing is ring-suspended within an equally massive 8" aluminum ring, and suspended by 8 springs. The ring is threaded onto the gorgeously chromed "Banquet Style" table stand, included. In its lowered position, the whole piece measures 25" tall, and when extended, reaches 35" tall. The "Banquet" name is based on the principle of using this stand on a Banquet table like used in a wedding or conference situation, instead of a floor stand. The base is quite weighty, with a heavy iron core covered by a chromed shell. If you prefer to use your own stand, this ring will interface (thread) with any other standard floor stand or desk stand of your choice.
