This fabulous Art Deco Vauxhall or mirror glass necklace is unusual and rare. It features glass cabochon disks, which do look like blue mirrors, with the largest being 1 1/16" diameter. In the color of cornflower blue, there are three sizes of disks connected in graduating fashion. Six Vauxhall glass bar links, in a shade lighter, connect on each side of the disks, leading to the clasp. If you are a Vauxhall glass jewelry collector, this piece is a must-have. To help explain Vauxhall glass: "Through the eighteenth century and on into the middle of the nineteenth, Vauxhall glass was a popular gem substitute. This necklace has two disk links with minor spotting around the backside edges (as some old mirrors do). But these reflect light so brightly, no one in bright light will notice. Although the color of the jump ring (and connecting ring) that the spring ring attaches to is different than the spring ring, I am not sure if they are replacements. Metal finish on the backs--splotchy but normal signs of age/wear. Glass is extremely shiny.
