Description: Vintage 1912 California Fig Syrup Co. Antique Medicinal Bottle Clear My husband is an avid bottle digger and hand dug this bottle from an old homesite in the North Texas Area. It has been gently hand washed. Measures: 7" tall and 2" wide and 1 1/2" deep. Front Side: "CALIFORNIA FIG SYRUP CO." Left Side: "WHEELING W VA" Right Side: no embossing, Base: Owens Scar with no markings. The embossed letters have been highlighted with a marker and can easily be washed off. It displays beautifully. Some hazing. No chips, no cracks. Only one minor scratch that I can see. I have taken multiple photos so you can judge the condition and see if it is worthy of your collection. According to the information I found on the internet this was "An Elegant Substitute For Oils, Salts, Pills and all kinds of bitter, nauseous medicines is the very agreeable liquid fruit remedy. Syrup of figs. It is recommended by leading physicians. Manufactured only by the California Fig Syrup Co., San Francisco, Cal. (Yates County Chronicle October 13, 1885)". It had a laxative effect that was produced by Senna, a tropical herb comprising 25% of the mixture. Another 6% was composed of alcohol, making its effect roughly the same as beer bottled during that period I am happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases. Just let me know you are interested in several items and I will invoice you the actual shipping rate of the combined items. Thanks for looking!
