The term "paste" was given to melted glass with additive to make it sparkle, which was poured into molds to imitate real gemstones, dating back to the mid 1800s. These are pierced earrings with posts and screw backs (rather than the push butterfly type) and are estimated to be circa 1910 - 1915 from the style. These drop hoop earrings are set with two 4 mm paste stones--one at the front of the post, and the other inside the main hoop / circle. The mountings and backers are 14k gold (backs marked, earrings tested)/ These earrings are about 3/4" long, the hoops are 3/8" diameter and they weigh 1.9 grams.
