Description: The Brandenburg Gate This gate is a triumphal arch and the symbol of Berlin, Germany. It is the only remaining gate of a series that once were the entry to Berlin. It was built from 1788 to 1791. The Brandenburg Gate has twelve Greek Doric columns and it is topped by the Quadriga, consisting of the goddess of peace, driving a four-horse chariot in triumph. It has played many roles in German history but perhaps one that you may recall is that President Ronald Reagan delivered a speech “tear down this wall”. It could be heard on both sides of the wall.
