Description: View of Turin with the Plain of Piedmont, Taken Near the Convent of Superga. Drawn by Mary Countess Harcourt. Engraved by J. Hibbert, Bath. Artist: Mary Harcourt (née Danby), Countess of Harcourt (1750-1833.) A portrait of the countess was painted by Sir Joshua Reynolds circa 1780s. We could not locate much information about the countess or her art career. We found engraved work by Hibbert dating to the 1790s and speculatively date this print to circa 1790s or quite early 19th century. Measures 19” x 14.5” (plate ); 21 7/8” x 16.5” (sheet.) Excellent condition within platemark. The extreme corners of sheet have been reinforced on verso leading to some toning showing through from the adhesive used, not affecting the printed area. A very scarce print, we found one listed in the collections of the National Maritime Museum, UK, yet no other examples offered for sale.
