Description: THIS ITEM MEASURES 3.5 IN X 3 IN.The 9th Cavalry Regiment saw service (1965-1972) as an experimental air cavalry unit (1/9 Cav) during the Vietnam War. It was composed of aero-weapons (Reds), aero-scout (Whites), and aero-rifle (Blues). Its mission was one of an aerial reconnaissance unit which used helicopters and ground reconnaissance elements to locate enemy units and engage its infantry assets to destroy the enemy. This concept did away from conventional front line warfare that was typical in prior land warfare. This method was found to be very effective against the conventional and unconventional tactics of the NVA.
