This directorate is usually known with the nickname The 7th TECNICAL DIRECTORATE (Nha Ky Thuat or Phong 7 Ky Thuat translated as Technical Directorate or 7th Bureau). This directorate is further divided down to 3 offices: The Coastal Defense office (So Phong Ve Duyen Hai) to deal and manage with all maritime-related reconnaissance activities, the Liaison Office (So Lien Lac) to manage the reconnaissance and military intelligence in Northern part of South Vietnam & the tri-border area (Vietnam, Lao and Cambodia), and the Topography office (So Dia Hinh) to manage the land reconnaissance activities within South Vietnam.
