Description: Vietnam War M-1949 Mountain Mummy Sleeping Bag w Case Outer Shell System Sleeping Bag, Mountain, M-1949, Type 1 DSA 100-68-C-1608 NSN 8465-242-7856 Size Large Used (maybe never?) , Very Clean Excellent Condition, Working Zipper This feathered sleeping bag in extreme excellent condition, looks never used. No rips, tears, or holes. Like new, very nice considering shows manufactured in 1968. Has a normal “vintage” smell to it. Currently 56 years old. This bag may cost a little more than other “like” sleeping bags however that’s because its in excellent condition. Pay less elsewhere and get a lesser quality item. If you want a like new quality vintage M-1949 US ARMY sleeping bag, this is the one. Zipper extremely smooth operation. True vintage original United States Army issued sleeping bag and case. Important information: Military procurement was done through the Defense Supply Agency 1962-1977 and all contracts had a DSA prefix. The dates were by fiscal year...July 1 through June 30. Fiscal year 1962 had a DSA 1 prefix and E-62 suffix. 1963 and 1964 were the same but substitute "63" or "64" in the suffix. Fiscal year 1965 will just have the DSA 1 prefix and no date code. Fiscal year 1966 will have a DSA 100 prefix and no date code. Starting in 1967 there will be a DSA 100 prefix plus a two digit date code. So, for example, fiscal year 1968 contracts will have a DSA 100-68 prefix. I say “Fair” because it looks like one of the buttons is missing and has a 3 inch tear hole as shown in pictures #23 AND # 24. THIS is the only negative I can see between the sleeping bag and case.
