Description: This listing is for a medium sized Victorian Picture Button The Trumpeter of Cracow or The Bugler. This beautiful metal button has a stamped lead pewter design over a painted metal background and has a plain brass collet. But, later research found that the man was playing a curved horn, not a trumpet, and appears to be standing on castle battlements. He is carrying a spear, rather than a flag or lantern. As such, the button might be called The Bugler. It is shown on page 498, plate 212-19, in The Big Book of Buttons (BBB). There might be some brass discoloration on the back of some of the buttons. This beautiful button measures exactly 1.006” (25.55 mm) in diameter. This very collectable Victorian button has not been cleaned as it would damage its value.
