Description: Satin glass figural Hand Vase Centennial Novelty marked produced by Gillinder and Sons This rare novelty was produced for the Centennial Exposition and celebration in Philadelphia in 1876 for the 100th Anniversary of the signing of Declaration of Independence. she was produced by Gillinder and sons in Philadelphia. On the front of the vase is a raised inscription that reads "Centennial 1876." Only items made during the Centennial Fair were decorated in this manner. The vase has a frosted finish & is modeled in the shape of a hand holding a sheaf of wheat. MANUFACTURER Gillinder & Sons (American (Philadelphia, PA; Greensburg, PA), 1861 - 1891) DATE1876 Made of Frosted non-flint pressed glass Measures 7" tall x 2.75" vase opening x 2.5" round base. Very good condition. 2 small chips on base (see photos). A few flea bite chips around top edge.
