Description: Victoria Austria Marie Thesese Madame Royal Portrait 8 1/2 Inch Luncheon Plate Pretty relief molded porcelain plate. Has a portrait in the center of Marie Therese. With clouded gold gilding along the edge. Marked Victoria Carlsbad Austria on the back in blue. This mark was used by Schmidt & Co between 1891 and 1918. Marie-Thérèse Charlotte of France (1778 – 1851), Madame Royale, was the eldest child of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, and the only one to reach adulthood (her siblings all dying before the age of 20). She was married to Louis Antoine, Duke of Angoulême who was the eldest son of the future Charles X, Louis XVI's brother. Has lot of wear to the gilding, but no chips or cracks. Measures approximately 8 1/2 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece. HR
