Description: Very scarce first edition complete set of two volumes, " A History of The Puget Sound Country - Its Resources, Its Commerce and Its People". The set was published in 1903 by the Lewis Publishing Company. Text is by Col. William Farrand Prosser. The books are illustrated with photographs and engravings. It has modern reprints and is found in some libraries or just one of two volumes, but rarely found in the first edition vintage set. Volume I generally contains chapters pertaining to history and Volume II has profiles of notable people of the area. Volume I has 608 pages. Volume II has 581 pages. The hard cover books are bound in leather with gilt titles on the spines. They have marbled end papers and the closed page edges have gilt. This over-sized set measures 8.5 x 11 inches. This set is in excellent vintage condition. The books have no stains, no water damage, bright pages with no foxing or age toning. Bindings are tight. There are no owner names or stamps. The leather boards show rubbing and scrapes from storage. There is edge wear along spine edges, wear at corner tips. Volume II has a small piece of leather missing at the top spine end and a loose flap at the bottom spine end. The gilt page edges are bright.
