Description: Very Rare Taylor Small Skinner. Made in Seki, Japan c. 1980s. Mint NOS. This is a very rare Taylor Small Skinner. Made in Seki, Japan c.1980s Tang stamped TAYLOR 440 STAINLESS JAPAN with attractive custom etched scrolling. Knife is 4 ¼” LOA with a c.2½” Blade edge and 5mm thickness of 440 Stainless SteelIt includes a handsome 4 ½” genuine leather sheath with belt loop and stainless snap closure. Knife is new old stock and has never been carried, used, or sharpened. This Small Skinner, like the Taylor Models #1915 Wallet knife and #474 Boot knife have long since been discontinued. Taylor put their name on them sometime in the 80’sand before they moved production to China in 1992-3.Ichiro Hattori made a number of these models in Seki for companies such as Taylor, Valor, Parker, Beretta, and Tekna. Seki Japan is internationally known as a city famous for its history of fine cutlery and highly skilled craftsmen going back some 800 years.
