Description: I am in Vero Beach seasonally. While I'm here, I try to spend a lot of time taking photos around sunrise and sunset. I will usually take photos and sunset on the river and sunrise photos by the pier on the beach north of Jaycee Park. I've been wanting some photos of the pier in the fog. Some of the best photos are taken in what can be considered bad weather. It's hard to get fog in Vero on the beach. But, with patience and vigilance, one can get what one wants. When I woke up at 5 this morning on the mainland side of the Barber Bridge, I detected a hint of fog in the air. I gathered my senses and made my way to the island. As I crossed the bridge, the fog grew thick. By the time I was off the bridge, it was clear again. Bummer. I kept going towards Jaycee park and parked. As I gathered my gear, I felt my t-shirt wouldn't be good enough to keep me warm, so I added a hooded "T." I walked the 1/3 of a mile along the beach to the pier. I hadn't been to the beach for nearly two weeks and was surprised to see the surf was quite strong, really kicking up the salty sea aroma. I initially thought that I could get some good splash photos when the sun came up. But, as I looked toward the horizon and saw the low clouds, I was pretty sure that wouldn't happen. I kept going because you never know what can happen. Nothing really did. I took some photos thinking that I wouldn't get much. I talked with friends I hadn't seen in a couple of weeks and then, because I had to work on this Sunday, I left. I had a moment to stop in at Panera and download my photos to the laptop.
