Description: Beautiful Burlington, IA souvenir plate made by Vernon Kilns from Vernon CA. These plates were mfg. using transferware process in placing scenes from local tourist areas onto a porcelain plate, then kiln fired to produce various dinnerware. The art was produced by several well-known artists active in the 30's, 40's, and 50's such as Orpha Klinker, Don Blanding and Rockwell Kent. Veron Kilns produced thousands of souvenir products, and those custom production orders are highly sought after by collectors. This plate was made on special order and designed exclusively for Wyman and Rand Furniture Company. Scenes from around the area include The Burlington Zephyr, Iowa Ordinance Plant (dedicated in 1941 for WW II munitions, and a Riverboat. A rim decorated with corn and husk makes this a standout piece of Mid Century Modern custom production art. Plate measures 10.25" and is a Royal Blue color. No cracks, chips or crazing, but slight discoloration on the back description. A beautiful piece of modern porcelain art! I am currently liquidating my collection of Vernon Souvenir plates and will be listing them on EBay. More to follow in the coming days. I will ship these plates flat rate box to your selected destination.
