Description: The first bank note to feature a vertical novel serial number and a traditional horizontal number, the 200 Vanuatu vatu banknote was first issued in 1995 as an undated note. The notes obverse side depicts a Melanesian chief holding a spear while its reverse side features both a traditional parliament and the United In Peace We Progress statue in Port Vila. The note has a spiral registration device, a windowed security thread with demetalized VT200, a watermark of the Melanesian male head, an electrotype spiral watermark, and a repeated microprint of the phrase BANQUEDERESERVEDEVANUATU along the bottom front of the note. When placed under UV light, the denomination, arms, and serial numbers glow green. The note measures 135 mm by 68 mm.
