Description: Lot of correspondence written during World War II and sent to Elmer John Buehler (1911-2010), who was a lifelong resident of Portland, Oregon and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He is known to have served in Europe with the 724th Railway Operating Battalion. Most of the letters appear to have been written in 1944 and 1945, in the closing months of the war. This lot includes a stack of 43 V-mail letters, and 44 envelopes (most with letters inside) that have been stored in a binder. I don’t know if the V-mail letters are the same as the contents inside the envelopes. Most if not all were written from family members to the soldier, as opposed to from the soldier to home. This lot also includes several pamphlets relating to travel in Europe and Asia believed to be collected by the soldier during his time in service. Location: 1818
