Description: This is a hat or lapel pin commemorating the USS Lexington ATV-16. The pin measures approximately 1-1/8 inches wide and 3/8 of an inch in height. It is clutch back. I do not see any flaws to the face of the pin. The USS Lexington is an Essex-class aircraft carrier that was commissioned 17 February 1943. It is the sixth U. S. Navy ship to bear the name Lexington, in honor of the Battle of Lexington. It saw action during WWII receiving 11 battle stars and the Presidential Unit Citation. The Lexington saw service as an attack carrier, an antisubmarine carrier and a training carrier. She was decommissioned 8 November 1991. The Navy turned the Lexington over to the City of Corpus Christi. It is now a National Historic Landmark and operates as the "USS Lexington Museum on the Bay." Great for a hat or lapel.
