Description: Attention all Marines and Marine Corps patch enthusiasts! Here's a FINE example of a subdued shoulder patch worn by veterans of Second Marine Division on the Army’s current OCP uniform! During WWII, Marines actually wore these as a shoulder sleeve insignia. The practice was discontinued in 1947, but the patches are still worn on all manner of off-duty civilian caps and clothing as novelty items. (This, of course, is not a WWII patch, but a modern subdued variant.) If you’re a soldier who served with 2nd MarDiv overseas, and have been authorized to wear it as your “former combat unit,” then this patch is for you! This is the approved version in OCP-compatible green color, with velcro backing for easy attachment and removal. They have continued their proud history since then, with units from 2nd MarDiv deploying to hotspots all over the globe. For Operation Desert Storm the entire division deployed to Saudi Arabia, where they fought to liberate Kuwait! Division is based at Camp Lejeune, NC. Recent Decades: Of course, Marines from 2nd Division made history once again in the hard fought battles of Operation Iraqi Freedom! Units from 2d MarDiv served with I MEF in the initial push to Baghdad in 2003. Following that, 2nd Division Marines rotated in and out of Iraq, and many fought in the battle for Fallujah!
