Used vintage LP PAT METHENY GROUP debut album Near Mint/Very Good+ condition

Description: PAT METHENY GROUP (eponymous release). Used vintage LP (not RE) in Near Mint/Very Good+ condition. ECM Records Catalog # ECM-1-1114; 1978 Condition: Vinyl could almost pass for unplayed, just has minor radial streaks that don’t affect sound; surfaces quieter than average LP. Jacket has minor flaws also: small brownish stains near top of jacket front (I don’t think I ever spilled coffee on this!), and ring impression on front bottom, but not even raised. Includes original soft poly inner sleeve. Behind the Music: Powered by this electric group, guitarist Metheny burst upon the music scene in 1978, even gaining some crossover radio play on non-Jazz stations with catchy rhythms and memorable melodies. I made a point of catching one of this group’s early NYC concerts. Pat is joined by the late Lyle Mays on keyboards, Mark Egan on bass guitar and Danny (here called simply Dan) Gottlieb. As an ECM project, this was naturally produced by label boss Manfred Eicher and recorded in Oslo, Norway. The selections: San Lorenzo; Phase Dance; Jaco; April Wind; April Joy; Lone Jack. “Jaco,” interesting because only later would Mr. Pastorius start recording with Metheny; the bassist’s reputation must already have been out in the open. Hey, these guys had “big hair” practically before that became a “thing” for some Rock bands! Check it out! Since there are many copies of this in circulation, I am asking only a very modest price.
