Description: USB to Optical Interface for LTB Lasertechnik MNL 100, 200, 205 Nitrogen Laser USB to optical interface which will connect a Windows PC to an LTB MNL Nitrogen Laser System. This is known to work on both Series 100 and Series 200 (203, 205) lasers. It allows you to use the LTB GUI software to control the laser with a Windows laptop or PC. It is a small box with a USB port on one end and optical transmitter and receiver on the other. Power is provided by the USB port. The interface enumerates as a COM port on your PC. It uses a common FTDI chip and is plug-and-play on Windows 7 or later. Earlier versions of Windows may need to download an easily obtainable driver. LTB uses the optical interface to prevent high voltage (up to 17KV!) inside the laser from damaging the computer in the event of a malfunction. This listing includes the interface box, a USB A to mini cable and a pair of optical cables. These interfaces are brand new (we manufacture them), individually tested and guaranteed working. Here are a few things to check if you can't get the interface to work.Check the Windows Device Manager to verify that the interface has enumerated as a serial (COM) port and that the GUI software is configured to use that port.Make sure one of the fiber ports is lit with a red LED on both the interface and the laser. Plug the fiber cables in so that the lit LED (transmitter) on one end is connected to the unlit port (receiver) on the other end. The LED light is not dangerous to look at.Make sure the connectors are firmly seated in the ports. They make a small snap when fully inserted.
