It has been optomized for a single amateur band rather than a multi-band antenna which yields lower efficiency for both transmitting and receiving. The antenna is built to be used with 50 to75 ohm feedlines and can be used with full legal amateur power and will provide a close match when properly installed, (low swr) to any amateur transmitter/tranceiver including low power QRP units. Materials include 14awg stranded pure copper elements, poly insulators and solid fiberglass encapsulated SO-239 termination. There is no exposed metal hardware to corrode or rust from exposure to extreme weather conditions. The encapsulated termination prohibits the collection of condensation eliminating intermittant and high resistance connections which can cause intermittant or even no reception and poor efficiency. It is my own experience in using and building dipole antennas for many years that this type of antenna rates high in performance for not only stateside communications, but also dx work. As with any antenna, proper installation is important for best performance.
