The downward-pointing chevron suggest the Roman numeral V as a reference to the unit’s numerical designation; it is doubled to emphasize the importance of repeating key facts and principles during the learning process. Red, white, and blue are taken from the colors of the 89th Army Reserve Command insignia. My father was a Colonel in the USAF and collected patches from every Air Force, Army, Navy and Marine unit he visited all over the Country and World to give to me as souvenirs.
