One of the first pieces of legislation issued by the Central Council of the Ukrainian People’s Republic was a law establishing Ukraine’s State Bank. The bank played an important role in Ukrainians’ struggle for independence at that time, and provided them with valuable banking experience.Obverse: above is Ukraine’s small coat of arms and the semicircular legend: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); against the smooth background of an octagonal cartouche are stylized female figures symbolizing trade, wealth, well-being, power and generosity; the figures hold an open scroll depicting the emblem of the National Bank of Ukraine. Beneath is the medal’s issue year – 2017.Reverse: there is the bank’s historical two-storey building, above which is a cartouche made from a floral ornament with a trident inside it; under the building is the legend: 100/ РОКІВ (100/years).
