In 2013 she married her husband and emigrated to the United States; from that point forward she painted under her married name Yana Rafael. Her style is Impasto, full of thick brushstrokes in vibrant colors. She uses real life subject matter and emphasizes the architecture of buildings, but often paints with unexpected colors.
