Cooler temperatures and more rainfall provide a smooth transition for the plants. To plant, soak the tree for 3-6 hours after unpacking, prior to planting. Dig a large hole, removing all grass in a 3' radius. Plant the tree at the same approximate depth that it was planted at the farm and partially fill the hole, firming the soil around the roots. Do not add soil amendments such as peat, bark, fertilizer, potting soil or chemicals to the hole. Shovel in the remaining soil. It should be firm but not tightly packed. The soil and mulch around your trees should be kept moist but not soggy. During dry weather, water the tree every 7 to 10 days during the first year. Water slowly
