Two Large, Black Lava Rocks – Perfect for Aquariums, Terrariums, Succulents

Also known as "scoria" or "cinder", they were hand-picked directly from the Springerville Volcanic Field, near the White Mountains of east-central Arizona. This listing is for two black / dark gray lava rocks, roughly 5½" and 6½" across their respective bases; the first stands a little over 5" tall, while the second stands 6½" tall. You'll find a few cracks, crevices, and holes, but the main feature you'll notice are the pockmarks ... LOTS of pockmarks in a variety of shapes and sizes . Those pockmarks are scoria's most recognizable feature. When they were expelled from volcanoes that were active here over a half million years ago, hot gases were captured within the molten lava and trapped as it cooled, leaving thousands of tiny "pores" within the rock itself. Set them out a bit from a corner to create a safe space for smaller fish, or combine them with other rocks to create an underground scene. Scoria lava rocks are extremely lightweight and reduce the risk of damaging your tanks. They offer additional benefits ensuring the health of your aquarium, too.
